Reporting examples

Turn a status update into a useful decision.

A report should show what moved, what is waiting, and who owns the next action. Explore three illustrative views and the questions each can help your team ask.

SYNTHETIC EXAMPLES · NOT CLIENT RESULTS

Selected example: Claim readiness. 100 sample claims.

What is stopping work from moving?

A fictional batch of 100 items grouped by their current readiness state. Counts are not a clean-claim rate or a payer acceptance measure.

Ready for next step

Work received is not the same as work ready to submit. Separate input gaps from processing activity so the right team can remove the dependency.

A shared language

Agree the definition before comparing the number.

Small differences in date ranges, exclusions, or source data can make two apparently similar reports mean different things.

Claim readiness

What can move now?

Definition to agree
Work with the agreed inputs available for its next processing step.
Question for the review
Which missing inputs recur, and who can provide them?
Keep in mind
Readiness is not payer acceptance or payment.

A/R aging

What needs another look?

Definition to agree
Open accounts or balances grouped by age using a stated start date.
Question for the review
What explains the age, and what was the last documented action?
Keep in mind
Specify whether the chart counts accounts, claims, or dollars.

Posting exceptions

What does not reconcile?

Definition to agree
Items with unresolved remittance, payment, adjustment, or balance questions.
Question for the review
Which exception is waiting on a document, approval, or system correction?
Keep in mind
Posted activity and a reconciled deposit are different measures.

From report to action

Close the loop at every review.

Make the snapshot reproducible.

Record the reporting period, source system, filters, count or currency unit, and when the data was extracted. Explain changes in definitions when comparing periods.

Leave with an action register.

For each material exception, record the issue, next action, responsible person, dependency, and next review date. Escalate decisions to the person authorized to make them.
